DONATE YOUR ZAKAT

DONATE YOUR ZAKAT

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Muslims who meet the requirements for paying Zakat can complete this charitable duty through Ummati Relief Foundation. We’ll make sure your money is spent on helping those who need it most, both in the UK and around the world.

Zakat is the Third Pillar of Islam

Zakat is one of the major religious duties in Islam. Allah (SWT) imposed on the rich Muslims, an obligatory annual payment; It is deducted for the poor, so it would be one of the ways of ending misery, spreading happiness, and relieving the needy from the troubles of life.

As for Zakat ruling, it is an obligation in Islam. Allah the Almighty says: “establish prayer and give Zakat”. It is also established in the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, that he said, “Islam is based on five things: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, the establishment of the prayer, the payment of Zakat, the Pilgrimage, and the fast during Ramadan.”Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Our main aim is to guarantee that every pound of zakat paid by UK Muslims is paid appropriately. Zakat is the second Pillar of Islam. Zakat is considered as a kind of devotion offering for self-cleansing or purification, it is not just a payment but a duty that every eligible Muslim must fulfil. Wealth can cause many evils to happen but, if one pays Zakat regularly, he remains safe from its evil influence and also purifies his wealth and refines his character.

Your money will be used to change lives and leave a lasting impact around the globe to the needy. Zakat is deemed to be the right of the poor.

ZAKAT RATE.

The 2.5% Zakat rate is obligatory for all Muslims whose total possessions (cash, gold, silver, shares) meet or exceed the nisab threshold.

What Is Nisab

The nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must possess before they become eligible to pay Zakat. This amount is often referred to as the nisab
threshold.

A ‘100% Zakat’ Donation Policy!

It’s often not very clear what this “100% Zakat” policy really means, how your money gets to the poor. To truly understand how and why zakat is administered the way it is, we must delve into these details. There are many practical and ethical reasons not to believe that it actually works.

To ensure a “100% Zakat” policy, funds must come from elsewhere. We need money to receive, process, and administer donations, and to cover the cost of providing feedback and fundraising these are costs that all charities must incur.

The Ummati Relief Foundation identifies and avoids duplication in all donation categories. We know that it is religiously valid and ethical to use a small percentage of actual Zakat donations to manage that donation and generate further funds instead of receiving money from other pots. Most notable is the approach to zakat prescribed by Allah (SWT) in the Qur’an in defining how zakat is to be used. This means that it is perfectly permissible to donate a portion of your zakat donation to us so that your zakat is treated with the utmost care and distributed efficiently and effectively to those who really need it the most and this is what we can guarantee.

We have already mentioned that it is religiously valid to use a small portion of zakat to cover the cost of its distribution. This is part of the teachings of the Qur’an .

In His eternal and infinite wisdom, Allah (SWT) ordained that one of the eight categories of people eligible to receive Zakat are the administrators of Zakat, called: Al-’Amilina ’Alayha [The Noble Qur’an, 9:60]

They are responsible for collecting, storing, protecting, registering and distributing zakat. In fact, this category of people ranks third in him after the poor (al-fuqarah) and the needy (al-masakin). Not only is it understood that collecting and distributing zakat is expensive as cost is incurred, but an entire category is dedicated to this very purpose precisely so that we can remain open and transparent about where the funds are being spent.

Who Can receive Zakat?

There are eight types of people to whom Zakat can be given:

  • The poor (people who have no assets and means to earn a living)
  • The needy (people who have no earnings or whose earnings don’t cover their basic needs)
  • The wayfarer
  • Those employed to administer Zakat funds
  • Those whose hearts have been reconciled [to the truth/faith]
  • Those in bondage
  • Those in debt
  • In the cause of Allah (swt)
