Second annual Islamic holiday is Eid Al-Adha, also known as “Festival of the Sacrifice.”. It occurs on the tenth day of Dhu’l Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar, which is also the month during which the Hajj pilgrimage takes place.
The festival honors and remembers charity and selflessness. It honors the prophet Ibrahim (AS) Known as in Old Testament as (Abraham) readiness to offer his son as a sacrifice in response to God’s command. God provided a lamb for prophet Ibrahim (AS) to offer as a substitute before he offered his son.
Muslims all over the world observe the festival with prayers, charitable giving, and gatherings with loved ones and friends (as well as an abundance of food!).
A significant component of the festivities is sacrifice; wealthy Muslims who can afford it sacrifice a sheep or a goat in remembrance of the occasion. The sacrificial meat is then divided into thirds, with the family keeping one third, another third going to family, friends, and neighbors, and the final third going to the needy.
Eid Al-Adha always falls on the same day of the Islamic calendar, but since the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, the date on the Gregorian calendar changes every year. Eid Al-Adha 2025 is predicted to begin at sunset on Tuesday 6th May. The celebration lasts for three days.

Questions and Answers.
What is Qurbani ? –
As per Islamic tradition, if you are a sane adult Muslim, eligible to pay Zakat, then you are required to offer Qurbani.
What is the requirement: One goat or sheep is sufficient for one family. As for cows and camels, these can be shared by seven families. Ummati Relief Foundation, give you the option of sacrificing one seventh of a cow. However, given that Qurbani is a great act of worship, you may sacrifice as many animals as you wish.
How is my donation spent? Your donation is used to purchase a healthy veterinary certified animal, feed and maintain the animal until Eid day, slaughter costs, packaging and then distribution to those in need. It’s important to recognise that your donation should not be diluted with any other funding to purchase your qurbani share. At Sharing Wonders, we ensure we adhere to this.
When will the Qurbani be completed? Insha’Allah, we aim to complete all Qurbani’s on the first day of Eid Al Adha by midday local time.
