YEAR ROUND FOOD PROGRAMME Food Bank One in five are living in poverty!

One in 1 in 5 house hold in UK is facing difficulty to pay their bills, find work, can’t afford to pay for basics such as food, housing and clothes. Cost of living scandals is hitting people on low income hardest.
URF has been running a food bank in Birmingham West Midlands, helping hundreds of individuals and families (both Muslims and non Muslims) through your kind donations. We are committed to helping the vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food supplies while a longer-term solution is developed. The services we provide have an enormous impact on the people who use them, giving them an important breathing space at a time of great need. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without your support and help. As poverty is rising, more people are using our foodbank every week.
On average, we feed more than 200 people every weekend at our food banks in Birmingham.
Our volunteers take time out of their busy schedule to cook hot meals, sandwiches, snacks and provide water, along with warm clothing, blankets and sleeping bags that have been donated. We also hand them out to the homeless and distribute food to whoever is in need, as well lend a listening ear to support them.
We prepare a menu and organise a schedule with those who wish to volunteer at each food bank, up to two months in advance.

We often run out of items such as: cereal, milk, tea/coffee, UHT milk, pasta and pasta sauce, ramen noodles, baby food jars, baby milk, larger size nappies, period/incontinence products, shower gel, soap, toothpaste, deodorant etc
Food items such as: Cereal, cereal bars, soup, pasta, rice, noodles, tinned tomatoes/passata/pasta sauce, lentils, beans and pulses, tinned fish and meat, tinned vegetables, tea/coffee, biscuits, crisps, dried fruit, UHT milk, tinned milk powder, long life fruit juice, cordial, tea/coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, sweetener, baby food jars, baby snacks and baby milk.
Household Items: laundry liquid/powder, washing up liquid, bleach, scourer sponges, blue cloth roll (jerry cloth), multipurpose cleaning fluid, antibacterial wipes and antibacterial spray.
