Our Mission is Simple: Changing lives and communities through clean safe water solutions.
Clean safe water is a necessity of life, a basic human right, but 700 million people in 43 countries currently lack it. This includes millions in sub-Saharan Africa who are collecting unsafe water from lakes, rivers, and ponds on a daily basis. Many of them also spend up to six hours a day obtaining this water, forcing them to face danger and extreme weather conditions. Due to Africa’s lack of access to clean water, millions are suffering greatly from poor health and poverty.
Opening a water well truly changes and saves lives. Together we can do our part to end the clean safe water crisis and change the future of a community of people–mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, the elderly, infants, and the infirm. Let’s do our part to save a life today!
One water well provides fresh, useable water to a village of up to 2,500 people. This minimizes the likelihood of contracting deadly water-borne diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery. Furthermore, it improves overall well-being, boosts the economy, education, and benefits agriculture.
Currently, Ummati Relief Foundation is predominantly working within the African continent. 86% of the people living in sub-Saharan Africa are deprived of a fresh and clean water source. Half of Africa’s population overall suffers from at least one variation of water-related illness. These are due to a lack of sanitation practices and the general water scarcity due to the climate and geographical characteristics across the continent.
Providing clean water has always been key to ensuring that families are safe and healthy, but now more than ever, with Covid-19 affecting so many of our brothers and sisters across the globe.
Our mission is to dig water wells and install hand pumps with a knowledgeable and professional team, who promise to assist in future upkeep and maintenance.
