Ummati Relief Foundation has initiated a dedicated hygiene kit program that delivers essential supplies directly to schools and orphanages in Kenya, reaching both orphaned girls and poor needy girls where they live and learn. Through this initiative, we are improving living conditions, preventing disease, and addressing the basic needs that keep vulnerable children, especially girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, out of school. We believe that every girl, regardless of her circumstances, deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, confident, and educated.
For orphaned girls and poor needy girls in Kenya, access to even the most basic hygiene products is often out of reach. Without these essentials, they face:
Increased risk of illness – Lack of proper grooming tools can lead to tooth decay, skin infections, and other preventable diseases.
Loss of dignity and confidence – Inability to maintain personal cleanliness often results in social stigma and isolation.
Barriers to education – Many out‑of‑school children remain at home because they lack the basic necessities to attend with confidence.
By delivering hygiene kits to schools and orphanages, Ummati Relief Foundation ensures that these essential items reach the girls who need them most—whether they have lost parents or come from families struggling to make ends meet—in safe and supportive environments.
Each kit is carefully assembled to meet the essential grooming and health needs of a
vulnerable girl. Our standard kit includes:
Items and Purpose
1 Carry bag, provides a discreet, reusable bag for storing and transporting personal hygiene items, ensuring girls can keep their supplies clean, organized, and private.
High quality sanitary pads, Enables menstrual hygiene management, allowing girls to attend school with confidence and dignity without fear of leakage, embarrassment, or absenteeism.
2 cotton underwear, provides clean, comfortable, and breathable undergarments essential for menstrual hygiene, preventing infections, and restoring a sense of personal dignity.
Toothbrush Promotes oral hygiene and prevents tooth decay
Towel Provides cleanliness and comfort after bathing
Body Lotion Protects skin, especially in Kenya’s varied climates
Comb Encourages proper grooming and reduces scalp conditions
These simple items have a profound impact. A clean, well‑groomed child is healthier,
more confident, and far more likely to attend school regularly.
Ummati Relief Foundation targets orphaned girls and poor needy girls in Kenya by delivering hygiene kits to local schools and orphanages. These are the places where vulnerable girls are already present, and where our teams can work alongside educators and caregivers to identify those most in need. By partnering with schools and orphanages, we ensure that:
Kits reach the most vulnerable – Girls who have lost one or both parents, as well as those from impoverished families, often lack consistent support; schools and orphanages provide a stable point of contact.
Education is prioritized – Delivery to schools allows us to connect hygiene support with school enrollment and retention efforts.
Distribution is efficient and dignified – Girls receive their kits in a familiar setting, reducing stigma and encouraging regular use.
Many of the girls we reach are out of school—not because they lack interest in learning, but because their most basic needs are unmet. By delivering hygiene kits to schools and orphanages, we aim to:
Remove a key barrier – When a girl has her own towel, toothbrush, and comb, she feels ready to participate in school life.
Build trust with educators and guardians – Providing tangible support opens the door for conversations about enrolment and long‑term educational opportunities.
Promote lifelong hygiene habits – Our distribution is accompanied by simple teachings on personal cleanliness, helping girls avoid diseases such as tooth decay, scabies, and other skin infections.
Our approach recognizes that education cannot flourish where basic dignity is neglected. Through this program, Ummati Relief Foundation lays the groundwork for orphaned and poor needy girls to return to school and stay there.
“After losing my parents, I had no one to buy me a toothbrush or a comb. I stopped going to school because I felt ashamed. When Ummati Relief delivered a hygiene kit to my school, I felt like someone cared. Now I’m back in class, and I smile more.” — Grace, 13, orphaned girl in Kenya
“My family cannot afford even basic things. I was missing school because I didn’t have a towel or lotion. The kit gave me confidence, and now I attend every day.” — Amina, 12, poor needy girl in Kenya
Since initiating this program, we have witnessed:
Increased school re‑enrolment among orphaned and poor needy girls who received kits
Improved hygiene practices and self‑reported confidence
Reduced incidence of dental and skin conditions in supported communities

We deliver hygiene kits to schools and orphanages in Kenya, ensuring they reach vulnerable girls in safe, supportive environments where they live and learn.
Our hygiene kits are distributed to orphaned girls and poor needy girls in Kenya—those who have lost one or both parents, as well as those from families struggling with poverty, who often lack access to basic grooming products.
Each kit contains a toothbrush, towel, body lotion, and comb—essential items for daily grooming, oral health, and skin protection.
One complete hygiene kit costs just £20. This covers procurement and delivery to one girl in Kenya.
These girls are among the most vulnerable in society. Without parental or financial support, they often miss out on basic hygiene education and supplies, leading to health issues, loss of dignity, and school dropout.
Delivering to schools and orphanages ensures kits reach the most vulnerable girls efficiently, allows us to partner with educators and caregivers, and reinforces the connection between hygiene support and educational enrollment.
When a child has the basic tools for cleanliness and grooming, she gains the confidence to attend school regularly. Hygiene kits also serve as a bridge, allowing our teams to engage families and prioritize educational enrollment.
Proper use of the kit—brushing teeth, maintaining clean skin, and grooming—helps prevent tooth decay, scabies, and other skin infections that commonly affect vulnerable children.
Yes. You can designate your donation to this hygiene kit program. A donation of £20 covers one full kit.
